And sometimes, auto repairs and maintenance can be costly. But do not fret, as there are ways you can save serious money on car repairs, especially if you are in a tight spot financially.

  1. Get a list of trusted workshops and mechanics around your area

Garage jumping can cost you money since the rates are different for each garage and repair shop. Shop around your area for trusted car repair shops and ask for their rates. Trim down the list depending on your requirements. Once you have your list, stick to them. You might get discounts for being a loyal patron.

  1. Scratches on your car? Use a nail polish!

If you have little scratches and dents on your car and don’t have the money to get them repaired, use a nail polish to temporarily get them fixed. Use the nearest color to your car paint and gently apply it on the scratched area. Let it dry for 30 minutes.

  1. Use toothpaste to clean your headlights

Headlights looking a little dim? Get some toothpaste and on a clean cloth. Rub your headlights with the toothpaste and rinse them right after. You’ll notice a significant difference in the appearance. No need to bring your car to a car wash!

  1. Prevent frozen doors with cooking spray

It’s a common occurrence for car doors to get frozen shut during the winter. Prevent this from happening by spraying cooking oil on the door edges. You can ensure that your door gears will be working smoothly, even in the cold of weather.

  1. Check your tire pressure

Tire replacement can be expensive, but having worn-out tires is a road safety hazard. If you are a car owner short on cash and have no budget to replace your worn-out tires, lower your tire pressure temporarily. You can extend the life of your tires until you get them replaced. But also go easy on driving. Never drive at full speed. That can wear your tires and shorten their lifespan.
